maintenance
& disclAIMER
Taking care of solid oak objects & furniture doesn’t have to be difficult or time-consuming, but it does require some effort. However, it’s essential if you want those to last for years.
Please, do not hesitate to contact us if more advice is needed.
Clean regularly. Wood is a living material and, therefore, should always be cleaned as gently as possible with soft cloth only. Never apply harsh cleaning agents.
Avoid immersing objects in water or rinsing them under a water yet, as this can damage the wood structure. If liquid is spilled on the furniture, it should be wiped up immediately to avoid damage and discolouration of the wood.
Solid oak furniture & objects should not be exposed to direct sunlight as too much light can cause a great amount of discolouration; also the wood might dry out, which can create cracks over time.
Humidity has a great influence on solid oak objects & furniture. The ideal relative humidity for solid oak is 45-60%. Larger fluctuations in humidity can cause cracks in the wood and contribute to loosening the joints. Also, solid oak objects & furniture should not be placed close to heat sources such as radiators and wood stoves or stored in unheated rooms.
Please, use coasters and placemats when placing hot/wet objects to avoid damaging the surface and the coating of solid oak furniture. This will help maintain and protect your furniture from getting stained.
Also, keep in mind that:
Oak is a natural material and, therefore, no two pieces will be alike. Minor knobs, visible growth marks and color variations are a part of the wood’s natural look. Each object is an exclusive one-off thanks to the unique tones and grain patterns of the natural oak used.
All the objects are handcrafted. Therefore, indicated dimensions may vary up to ± 10 mm.
We use natural stains to get ‘Iron Black’, ‘Elderflower Red’, ‘Nutty Brown’ colours. Keep in mind that there can be variations in colour shades and texture from one object to another.
